It's easy to notice others' mistakes and shortcomings while overlooking our own. Sometimes, without realizing it, we measure our goodness by comparing ourselves to those around us. In Luke 18:9–14, Jesus reminds us that God looks beyond appearances to the humility and sincerity of our hearts. Genuine faith isn't about proving we're better than others, but recognizing our need for God's grace and extending that same grace to others. Sometimes, the person we most need to examine is the one staring back at us in the mirror.
